When we were tasked with turning the Faros area at the SNFCC into a Big Greek Yard, we knew this would be a cultural challenge. Our goal was clear: to craft an environment where authenticity and inclusivity could thrive, blending the nostalgia of old Athens with the vibrancy of a modern creative hub.

The Design:

Every element of the venue was thoughtfully curated to recreate the charm of an Athenian neighborhood, while avoiding the clichés of a tourist trap. We integrated the colors, textures, and forms of yesteryear, weaving them into the sleek, contemporary architecture of the SNFCC. Think Greek tile patterns, blooming bougainvilleas, and touches of traditional Greek crafts — all set against the greatness of one of Athens’ most modern buildings.

The Decor & Experience:

The showpiece? An old-style Greek kiosk (períptero) brought back to life, brimming with nostalgic charm. It became a hub of interaction, a visual delight, and the ultimate photo opportunity, sparking conversations and memories alike.

The yard came alive with interactive elements like street-style table games, artistic displays, and cozy seating corners where guests could feel like locals, immersed in the spirit of Athens.

Entertainment

To give the space soul, we invited artists who truly represent Greece’s vibrant local culture. From traditional Greek musicians performing rebetika to contemporary performers interpreting folklore with a modern twist, every act celebrated the duality of Greece’s past and present. The energy was electric— guests didn’t just watch, they participated, becoming part of the performance.

Cuisine

The menu was an ode to the tastes of Greece. Guests indulged in traditional recipes made with a modern flair—freshly baked pies, mezze platters bursting with seasonal flavors, delicacies and local products from all around Greece, and desserts that told stories of old family recipes passed down through generations.

The Challenge

Transforming a state-of-the-art venue like Faros into an authentic Athenian yard was no easy feat. But challenges like these are where creativity thrives. We designed an experience—original, artistic, and full of heart. Our goal was to highlight Greece’s cultural essence in a way that felt personal and deeply connected, far from a commercialized, touristic lens. The result? A vibrant space, a talk of the town, a celebration of Athens’ past and present, a canvas of creativity, and a testament to what can happen when authenticity meets artistry.

Challenge accepted—and conquered!
